Book Review: It's Raining Men by Milly Johnson

Title: It's Raining Men
Author: Milly Johnson
Publisher: Simon & Schuster
Publication Date: 1st August 2013

Best friends May, Lara and Clare are desperate for a holiday. They have been dreaming of a little cottage in the middle of nowhere, long walks in the country and just a bit of time away from it all. But when they arrive in Ren Dullem, a small Yorkshire seaside town, it seems it is not the place they thought it was... May can't wait to get away from men after being cruelly deceived. Then in Dullem she falls hook line and sinker at first glance for one of the inhabitants - but he's already taken...

Lara is living with James and his awful step-children who taunt her with tales of his younger, prettier ex whom they adored - the woman who Lara walks in to find James in bed with despite all his protestations that he wouldn't touch her again with a barge pole. Reeling from the hurt, she needs the sea air of Dullem to heal her. What she doesn't need is to be constantly in battle with the owner of the holiday cottage - a man who is every bit as bitter and resentful and untrusting of the other sex as she is.

Clare's kind, steady boyfriend Lud wants her to go and live abroad with him for two years, but she's just been offered the promotion of a lifetime. It gives her the excuse she needs to end the relationship and find some single excitement which happens to turn up in the form of a very bad boy who is everything Lud isn't - impulsive, wild and dangerous.

Will this holiday be the break they all need? Or will the odd little town with all its secrets bring them all to breaking point...?

didn't like it didn't like it didn't like it didn't like it didn't like it

Firstly I have got to say that Milly Johnson is a fantastic author who has written some amazing reads she never fails to make her readers laugh, smile and even cry with her books but best of all her readers hate to finish the last page knowing that they need more of a Milly Johnson book fix as soon as.

I have a huge thank you to say for Alice Murphy at Simon & Schuster for sending me a copy. I was highly excited when I found out Milly was bringing a new book out, The title of the book is superb, I just keep visioning lots of Gerrard Butlers falling in the sky haha!

So we meet May, Lara and Clare Best of friends who work for the same company but are in desperate needs of a holiday as they never get a lot of time to see each other and catch up, so Lara decides to book them into a luxury hotel with a spa but when wires get crossed when booking and they end up in Ren Dullem instead of Wellum, Everything doesn't seem right to the girls, hardly any women in the village just lots of men..how very strange...!

What a fantastic read this was! I was pretty much hooked from the beginning, I loved reading about the three main characters May, Lara & Clare they were all going through similar things in life but was keeping it away from each other, which is not what friends should do. The characters are very much easily able to loveable and friendly, It was nice to see how each of their lives easily changed once they had stayed in Ren Dullem.

The story had plenty of romance and was very heart-warming.  Ren Dullem seemed to be such a mysterious little village with always plenty of goings on to try and ruin the girls holiday especially with miss busy body Daisy.

For huge fans of Milly Johnson's book then they are going to love this book! It is a must read for sure.
I loved it and so will you! A Deserved 5 out of 5 stars from me!

A Winter Flame By Milly Johnson

Tis the season to be Jolly... but can Eve find happiness through the frost...? Eve has never liked Christmas, not since her beloved fiance was killed in action in Afghanistan on Christmas Day. So when her adored elderly aunt dies, the last thing she is expecting is to be left a theme park in her will. A theme park with a Christmas theme...

And that's not the only catch. Her aunt's will stipulates that Eve must run the park with a mysterious partner, the exotically named Jacques Glace. Who is this Jacques, and why did Aunt Evelyn name him in her will?

But Eve isn't going to back down from a challenge. She's determined to make a success of Winterworld, no matter what. Can she overcome her dislike of Christmas, and can Jacques melt her frozen heart at last?
didn't like it didn't like it didn't like it didn't like it didn't like it

This was such a fabulous Christmas read, I was giggling at some of the best parts of the book! I am a big fan of Milly Johnson's books, I adored reading White Wedding and I was glad to find out that Violet was appearing again in this new book yay!! So we start with Meeting the Lovely Eve who is awaiting at the solicitors to hear about Aunt Evelyn's will, when Eve finds out her aunt left her a theme park and also some money, but one catch..you have a handsome business partner too Jacques Glace, I just loved the chemistry between Jacques and Eve, I loved the way she misjudges him all the way hehe, You will understand when you read it hehe!

It was great to hear more about Violet who is Eve's cousin and Pav, it was cute to see their relationship develop more and more although I felt like i had bit all of my nails at one point in the book but then was so happpy :)
I also noticed Max and Bella from Milly's last book White Wedding also reappeared which was just fab!

My favourite character in this book would have to be Eve, she was just so brave but also had a frozen heart and hates Christmas because she lost the love of her life Johnathon on Christmas day and Her Fiance's family can't stand her and wouldn't even tell her where he was buried. So she was alone until she received the theme park.
I really did love this book and It was such a great Christmassy feel, I couldn't wait to snuggle up reading this, It was great with plenty of humour but also pulled at my heart strings a couple of times. I want everyone to grab a copy because you will not be disappointed hehe!

An Autumn Crush By Milly Johnson

didn't like it didn't like it didn't like it didn't like it didn't like it
In the heart of the windy season, four friends are about to get swept off their feet...

Newly single after a bruising divorce, Juliet Miller moves into a place of her own and advertises for a flatmate, little believing that, in her mid- thirties, she'll find anyone suitable. Then, just as she's about to give up hope, along comes self-employed copywriter Floz, and the two women hit it off straight away.

When Juliet's gentle giant of a twin brother, Guy , meets Floz, he falls head over heels. But, as hard as he tries to charm her, his foot seems to be permanently in his mouth. Meanwhile, Guy's best friend Steve has always had a secret crush on Juliet - one which could not be more unrequited if it tried...

As Floz and Juliet's friendship deepens, and Floz becomes a part of the Miller family, can Guy turn her affection for them into something more-into love for him? And what will happen to Steve's heart when Juliet eventually catches the eye of Piers - the man of her dreams?

First ever book I read by Milly Johnson was White Wedding and I just knew reading this book I wasn't going to be disappointed. Milly Johnson is a fabulous writer and in her books she always has you hooked from the first chapter. This book had me giggling alot, We meet the lovely twin brother and sister Juliet and Guy Miller who have their own fare share of problems, Guy's best friend Steve, The mad and rather lovely gay best friend of Juliet's, we meet the rest of the wonderful Miller family and Also the love mad Floz too.

Juliet being a newly single after a bruising divorce and has her new place but needs a new roommate? So her and her gay best friend Coco are interviewing at the start of the chapter a possible new roommate and Juliet is about to give up when the lovely Floz arrives and wants to move in!
Guy has his problem with wanting to buy his restaurant and trying to save the money for it seems to tire him out at all but also when he meets Floz, he tries everything to charm her..will it work in his favour? he also has his lovely best friend Steve who has an alcoholic mother is always asking him to help out at the wrestling matches and he has his own little crush on Juliet..what chemistry will happen between those two?
From the start I just loved all these four characters, I just knew it would be a happy ending either way, The chapters flow so easily with each character as you get to know them more and more,Even at times I felt I already knew them in person. With this book you will have plenty of laughs and giggles but you will also will experience some sadness and heartbreak of real things that happen in life like internet dating, Dysfunctional families, addiction and lots more.

I just couldn't put this book down at all, I was even kept up till silly o'clock in the morning hooked with every chapter and eager for more!
I certainly would recommend any body to read a book by Milly, She is a wonderful author and Im definitely purchasing more of her books soon! tehe!
