Christmas At The Cupcake Cafe By Jenny Colgan

it was amazing (my current rating) it was amazing (my current rating) it was amazing (my current rating) it was amazing (my current rating) it was amazing (my current rating)

Issy Randall, proud owner of The Cupcake Cafe, is in love and couldn't be happier. Her new business is thriving and she is surrounded by close friends, even if her cupcake colleagues Pearl and Caroline don't seem  quite as upbeat about the upcoming season of snow and merriment. But when her boyfriend Austin is scouted for a possible move to New York, Issy is forced to face up to the prospect of a long-distance romance. And when the Christmas rush at the cafe - with its increased demand for her delectable creations - begins to take its toll, Issy has to decide what she holds most dear.

This December, Issy will have to rely on all her reserves of courage, good nature and cinnamon, to make sure everyone has a merry Christmas, one way or another...
After reading Meet Me At The Cupcake Cafe we follow on in this lovely story with all the main characters in a busy cafe getting ready for Christmas... I really enjoyed this book! I loved all the mix of characters, you easily get to know each one of them and like them very much by the end of the book you feel like you really know the characters in person and feel they could be your best friends. They all individually stand out with their own problems but all get stuck in working at The Cupcake Cafe.
I got the version on my kindle but however I saw the cover in supermarkets and it is such a colourful and brightly book that sure should attract people to buy!
With this book you don't need to have read Meet Me At The Cupcake Cafe because at the beginning of the book Jenny had wrote a lovely letter to all readers and  explained what happened in the last book so you could easily follow this book.

It was such an amazing read, having it set in two different places was cool, London and New York...what couldn't possible be better for Christmas time? Hehe!
I just couldn't wait to curl up and read this, I enjoyed all the recipes which were definitely making my mouth water so I shall be passing the recipes on to my sister who is wonderful at baking cakes!
I don't want to mention to much of the story line just I recommend you do purchase this book because you really won't be disappointed, It will have you laughing, crying, smiling, frowning...Probably every emotion going...But you will certainly not want to miss this book!

I've loved all of Jenny Colgan's book so far and I shall continue to read more of her books in years to come. For being the second book of Christmas themed books of this year it has definitely got me in the Christmas spirit especially with only 9 weeks to go hehe!

All people looking for gifts for Christmas....Think your partner, wife, girlfriend, best friend, sister, mum, auntie, cousin likes reading? then i would recommend you purchase this book for them, you will be a star in their eyes for life then..hehe! It is a perfect Christmas read with lots of festiveness to get you in the spirit!

How Do You Voodoo By Janice Horton

it was amazing (my current rating) it was amazing (my current rating) it was amazing (my current rating) it was amazing (my current rating) it was amazing (my current rating)

Loveless fashion model Nola Nichols thinks being beautiful is a curse; that is until she is cursed and her looks begin to fade just a week before the most important photo shoot of her career.

Nola rejects all rational explanation on what might be causing her lost looks and decides she has to find a way to get uncursed. This imaginative quest takes her from the Caribbean to Glasgow's own City of the Dead. Along the way, she finds herself taking part in a rather unconventional funeral, involved in a voodoo ritual, reveals one or two unrests in her own past and falls madly in love with a doctor. Erm, that would be a witch doctor, right? ...

How do you Voodoo? is a novella of approximately 20,000 words.

This was the first book that I have read by Janice Horton and I really enjoyed this book from start to finish, was a shame it was only a short story but still fab indeed.  It is a book that you can sit down and relax with especially on a rainy day.
I loved the character Nola Nichols, it did really make me laugh the problems she was having, shows that being beautiful isn't always everything and if your nasty to people then they will be nasty back. I do hope Janice does a follow on book so we could find out what happens more in Nola's life...especially with the mystery witch doctor hehe!

I suggest if you do own a Kindle then do purchase this little Novella as you won't want to miss out i promise you! It is a perfect light hearted read.

A fab Rhyme for Halloween!

Only Naughty Children See Spooks on Halloween

by Winifred Sackville Stoner, Jr.

Witches and goblins, spooks and elves,

With sprites and gnomes from elf-land delves,
Tonight are flying here and there,
Yes, up and down and everywhere.
For this one night in all the year
They rule the earth and bring great fear
To all the naughty little boys
Who tease good girls and break their toys.

These spooks they also make girls sad

When they are selfish, cross and bad;
So when it's dark, bad boys and maids,
They see these awful fearsome shades,
And that is why with covered heads,
They trembling lie in their warm beds.

But even there they goblins see,

Spooks and gnomes, and all that be
Abroad upon weird Halloween
When all the wizards may be seen
By naughty kids and grown-up folks
Who like to play most wicked jokes.

But good young girls and gentle boys,

The kids who are their mothers' joys
They like the dark just as the light,
For spooks never come within their sight,
And in their dreams they lovely elves
Show them bright scenes from fairy delves.

So, if tonight you are afraid

Of any spook or any shade,
We'll know you are a naughty child,
So cross and wilful, rude and wild.

I now bid you farewell and hope you have a fangtastical spookiness day and gets lots of treats!

With the Official launch of Janice Horton's new book "How do you voodoo?" which is out today, Janice decided to have some fun and have a spellbindingly fun blog party with all the bloggers to take part and make their own spells and verses and then post on their blogs today.

I'v had some great fun this week trying to think of a spell I could use to put on my blog. Here is what I came up with. Enjoy!

My Spell
To Find Your Heart's Desire Spell

Ingredients
- Candles (Black/White/Pink)
- Pixie Dust
- Single Rose
- Magick Crystals
- Parchment Paper

Light the candles and place each one in front,to the left and to the right of yourself. Use the petals from the single rose and place each one around you in a circle. Next Sprinkle Pixie dust around yourself in a circle.
Then place the piece of parchment paper in front of you folded up. Hold the magick crystals and chant these words:

My Love Is Strong
My Spirit Weak
It Is An Answer That I Seek
The Question Burns With In This Fire
So I May Hear My Heart's Desire.

Say Them words twice and then the candles will go out and open the parchment paper in front of you and it should state what your heart desire's.

The Night Before Christmas By Scarlett Bailey

didn't like it didn't like it didn't like it didn't like it didn't like it

All Lydia's ever wanted is a perfect Christmas...

So when her oldest friends invite her to spend the holidays with them, it seems like a dream come true. She's been promised log fires, roasted chestnuts, her own weight in mince pies - all in a setting that looks like something out of a Christmas card.

But her winter wonderland is ruined when she finds herself snowed in with her current boyfriend, her old flame and a hunky stranger. Well, three (wise) men is traditional at this time of year...

- - -
My first Christmas book for this year and i enjoyed very much. The cover is a festive one which got me in the festive mood straight away. Now I know this book came out last year for Christmas but I've only just got round to reading It hehe.
I love that the setting for the book is based up in Cumbria which isn't too far away from myself so it made it feel very homely indeed. We Meet Four old Friends who have decided to spend Christmas together. One of the friends Katy and her Husband Jim had recently just bought a lovely hotel in Cumbria where they are all going to be staying for Christmas. We Meet Lydia and Boyfriend Stephen, Katy and Husband Jim with their two children, Pregnant Alex and Husband David and Joanna and New Boyfriend Jackson..who just so happens to be somebody from Lydia's past...And we also meet a lovely cute stranger called Will.

This book had a lovely mixed bunch of characters but i loved every single one of them and the chapters was easy enough to follow with all the characters. I loved all the goings on in the hotel and I thought it was nice that they all came together to spend a perfect Christmas...
It was a fab read and had me giggling quite a few times. I would definitely read another book by Scarlett Bailey, she writes the book with so much detail and at times makes you wish you was a fly on the wall. It really did deserve the 5 stars I gave. Get buying and reading now!
